Our goals are our reason for being. We want to help in simple
concrete ways. We have decided to begin with the basics.
Running water. Something that is unimaginable for us to
conceive of doing without. Modestly we are not even shooting
for hot running water, just water from a safe source, a well.
With help from our members and local technical help from the
Thai people we will put in a well and using inexpensive PVC
piping provide that clean drinking water to their simple homes.
As time passes we will heat that water using the clean power
of the sun. Instead of burning wood methane gas can be
provided from the manure of the swine. A simple concrete pool
with a lid can provide cooking gas directly to their homes. We
can help save the forests.
As you can see from the erosion of the village streets how
difficult it is to maintain them. A bulldozer could do some
proper grading making the village cleaner and safer. You can
imagine the difficulty they have keeping their wares clean.
Those fabrics are their major source of revenue.
Once these goals are accomplished we can then think of ways
to improve their revenue stream. Guest houses up to western
standards could dramatically increase their income. Lets
provide them with a leg up so they can improve their lives.
At some point we could install solar panels for electricity and
get Internet from satellite. Imagine, the last generation being a
generation which lives in heavy jungle and mountains, cooks
over an open fire on a mud floor, and is a refugee who had to
run for his or her life! A really basic existence. This generation
becomes an eco friendly generation. True citizens of he 21st
century. Saving the jungle from being cut for firewood or
charcoal for cooking. Giving the people a continuing sustained
prosperity from tourism and farming. And give the children a
chance for a good life.
Who Knows maybe we could web cam each others everyday
life, special events. We would really be a global village then.
